WEEKEND UPDATE

Aug 17-19

Got home EARLY Friday Morning around 0200, took short nap then got the kiddos up for school they where VERY VERY Excited to see me home early. I called them before I LEFT Thursday Night so they knew I was coming home. Mom and my sister were getting ready to leave to head back to my home town of Elkhart Indiana to visit family and my sister was getting a memorial tattoo for dad. So MRS and I went over to mom's house and took her and my sister to breakfast. To say mom was surprised is an understatement. Had a nice visit, then MRS and I went shopping and came home and took a nap. When kiddos got home from school, we hoped in the car and drove to Louisville to spend time with my inlaw's and early celebrate my daughter's 11th birthday and my niece 6th birthday, they grow up so fast(Daughter's Real bday is 09/11, if you know me you will understand the importance of that day, if not I will include it maybe in a later blog)Had good fellowship and did a little what we Kentuckians ( yes technically I'm a Hoosier by birth, but have been in Kentucky ALMOST as long as I was in Indiana, besides I live here so there haha) we did some front porch sitting, and just enjoyed each other's company and fellowship. (MRS one Sister and Brother in law and 3 kids live in Terre Haute Indiana, other sister in law and husband and daughter live in Louisville)Late to bed and late to rise, haha Saturday Morning found us venturing to the Fair Grounds to spend the day at the Kentucky State Fair, which has been a long standing tradition with the MRS family. This year was a total revamp, new exhibits, some of the same GREAT Ones moved to new location, they had a larger emphasis on Health and Health Access, several different Insurance agencies, different types of health screenings. New Agriculture displays, really loved the set up this year. Saw a couple neat gamily shows did A TON Of walking, and got back to the inlaws around 1800 bringing our youngest niece (from Terre Haute) home so her mom and dad and older siblings could stay later, relaxed at the house and played with my Rottie. Sunday we skipped church ( I know I know shame on us) We met everyone at Mike Linnig's Famous seafood restaurant in Louisville, again if YOU KNOW...YOU KNOW, I use to be the head cook there for about 2 years, they serve Fresh Alaskan Cod and other GREAT SEAFOOD. I still chuckle at some of these restaurants I use to work NOW Doing things I suggested to do when I worked there and was told it was a dumb idea ( Das Dutchman Essenhaus in Middlebury is another one.. DON'T GET ME STARTED)any way we had a great time celebrating the amazing girls in our lives that God so trusting blessed us with. They are a true blessing and reminder how amazing God really is. The Inlaws from Terre Haute left after lunch and headed home, we went back to Mom and Dad inlaw for couple hours of fellowship and playing with dogs, then headed home, we came the back way which is a little longer but enjoyed the scenery. We got home around 2100 hours, put the kiddos to bed then the MRS and I watched a little TV before retiring a great weekend. Since Dad earned his heavenly reward, I find myself wanting to be with family more, now that I see how fragile life really is.
